Australia warns unlicensed crypto firms of fines up to 10% of annual turnover

Australia is tightening its grip on the digital asset sector by introducing stringent penalties for unregistered cryptocurrency providers. Under new regulatory proposals, companies operating without proper authorization could face massive fines reaching up to ten percent of their annual turnover. This decisive move aims to enhance consumer protection, eliminate predatory practices, and bring decentralized finance into the mainstream regulatory fold. By holding non-compliant firms financially accountable, the Australian government hopes to foster a safer, more transparent environment for everyday investors entering the crypto market.

ASIC has recorded more than 45 digital asset-related license applications as its temporary enforcement relief approaches Sept. 30 expiration.
